" But first-let me tell you how I got here."
"You're not lacking. You're latent. I unlock what's dormant, activate what's waiting, and electrify your ions to create lasting movement. That's the science of transition."
Dr. Melissa D. Hill | Transition Coach
Life is filled with ebbs and flows—crucial pivots that shape who we become.
At every crossroads, we’re given the opportunity to choose growth over comfort, purpose over predictability. My journey has been defined by five pivotal moments—each one pulling me closer to the work I do today: helping others navigate the transitions that will lead them to their best, most aligned life.
Fresh out of high school, I packed my bags and left my small rural town in Alabama, headed to Madison, Wisconsin for a summer internship. It was my first time that far from home—and everything was new. New region. New culture. New expectations. But I adjusted quickly. That first leap taught me what it meant to be independent and adaptable, even when nothing around me felt familiar. That was just the beginning.
After interning, I transitioned into college life—worlds apart from my high school graduating class of just 87 students. I began my academic journey in chemistry, eventually earning a bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate in the field. I wasn’t just learning formulas—I was learning perseverance, discipline, and how to thrive in new spaces
Upon completing my studies, I entered federal service as a regulatory chemist—a career I would dedicate over two decades to. But even with a stable government job, something inside me knew it was time for a shift. I left it all behind to start over in a completely new industry: real estate. No experience. No connections. No guarantees. Just faith and the willingness to learn.
Success in real estate opened doors I never expected. In less than six months I had moved into sales management. Within the next year, I was leading multi- location branches. And soon after, I was selected to help establish and expand the Southeast footprint of a new company. What began as a job search became a destiny discovery. That journey led me from employee to entrepreneur. I founded MDH (Make Dreams Happen) Mortgage. And I quickly learned that real estate is about far more than the decision to rent or own. It is often the doorway to reinvention. I had the privilege of counseling people through homeownership while they were also navigating career shifts, identity changes, and life transitions. Homeownership wasn't just a transition for my clients-it was an activation. And watching it happen, again and again, I started to see the pattern. People didn't lack what they needed. They had dormant capacity they hadn't leveraged yet. Sometimes the pivot you make for income becomes the pathway to impact.
The most significant transaction occurred within me. After activating my own dormant potential, I couldn't unsee it in others. Professionals with skills they weren't using. Leaders with ideas they hadn't activated. Organizations with capacity sitting invisible. People stuck in transition—not because they lacked anything, but because what they already had was latent.
That's when I became The Latency Leverager.
I established science-based systems for detecting dormant capacity, creating conditions for activation, and sustaining the momentum that follows. I brought the precision of a chemist, the proof of a CEO, and the purpose of someone who lived this exact journey first. Chemist → Loan Counselor → CEO → Transition Coach. The breakthrough you're looking for isn't out there. It's already in you. It's just latent. And I know exactly how to activate it.
"I activated my own dormant potential before helping others activate theirs".
